This video provides detailed instruction on how place a penile prosthesis reservoir into the lateral retroperitoneum. This alternate location has been used at our institution for over 35 years in patients that have had prior surgery in the retropubic space including urinary diversion, intestinal diversion, and prostatectomy. With its intrinsically low pressure, ease of accessing, and absence of intestinal structures and major vasculature, the lateral retroperitoneum space can be safely used for prosthetic reservoir placement.
