Title: Reimplant After Removal of Infected Inflatable Penile Implant
Author(s): Koenraad van Renterghem
Key words: revision implant, severe fibrosis implant
This video demonstrates the case of a patient with an extensive history of previous implant and explant surgery of penile prosthesis. At the age of 30 years he was operated by a plastic surgeon because of an obscure erectile dysfunction (ED). Since that time he suffered from severe ED for which he underwent an Inflatable Penile Prosthesis 6 years later. Another 6 years later a revision due to mechanical dysfunction was necessary, this procedure resulted in an infection and explantation. One year later a Ambicor prosthesis was implanted with a corporplasty 2 months later, which ended unfortunately again with a new infection and new explant. One year after this explant a new implant seemed impossible. 12 Years later, at the age of 58, after a previous resection of an old suture 5 months before, he underwent a successful new implant with a malleable prosthesis (Genesis, 13 cm). In this video we demonstrate how to handle severe fibrosis making a new implant possible. It is obvious that this kind of surgery should be taken care of by experienced high volume implant surgeons..
